Days after a meeting between the junior protesting doctor and the West Bengal administration failed multiple times, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday went to the protest site to address the demonstrators.
The TMC supremo has been having a hard time sitting down with the protesting doctors who demand that the meeting between the two parties should be live-streamed, a condition the government is not ready to fulfill.
She said that she had come to meet the protestors as their didi and not as their chief minister.

Mamata, at Kolkata’s Swasthya Bhawan, where the doctors have been staging a protest, said, “I could not sleep the whole night thinking how you all slept on the road. Please listen to me with patience, if anyone is found guilty of the crime, I will look into the matter personally.”
Junior doctors have been protesting for over a month over the death of a 31-year-old trainee doctor who was raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. They have been pressing for better safety at government hospitals and seeking justice for their colleague.

Mamata urged the protesting doctors to return to work, adding that senior doctors cannot work without junior doctors.
The chief minister also announced that she would dissolve the Rogi Kalyan Samithi in RG Kar, whose chief is allegedly involved in the death of the 31-year-old doctor.
Earlier this week, Mamata claimed that she waited for the protesting doctors for two hours at Nabanna (CM’s office) who refused to step inside the building unless they got a go-ahead for live streaming the meeting.
