AAP bid to thwart BJP: To sit at Rajghat and 'pray for clean politics'

The Aam Aadmi Party and its Delhi MLAs today met Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to demand the dissolution of the Delhi assembly. Now after the meeting, AAP leader Ashutosh tweeted that the party and it’s MLAs would sit at Rajghat and pray to God for clean politics. What is not clear is how long this ‘prayer session’ will last or whether it will lead to another round of AAP protests in the city. AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal had said on Sunday that his party could meet the LG on Monday. “Arvind Kejriwal sought an appointment to meet Lt. Governor Monday, so that the BJP can be prevented from forming the government in Delhi,” an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader had said earlier. The Delhi assembly has been under suspended animation after Kejriwal, heading a minority government, resigned on 14 February . Where the Delhi assembly is concerned, suspense continues over whether BJP will indeed form the government or if the state will see fresh elections. Kejriwal had accused the BJP of indulging in horse trading, a charge that was denied by the BJP. [caption id=“attachment_1613529” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]Arvind Kejriwal in this file photo. PTI[/caption] In a video recorded message, that was distributed to auto-rickshaw drivers to play in their vehicles, Kejriwal alleged, “BJP is resorting to dishonest and highly unethical methods of trying to form the government by offering Rs 20 crore each to many MLAs. Is this democracy? It is completely wrong.” Kejriwal had also targeted the L-G in this fight tweeting out, “Wud LG save his chair or the constitution - nation will keenly watch. (sic)” One AAP MLA Bandana Kumari alleged that a “BJP worker” threatened her with dire consequences after she rejected his offer to join the party. “Sanjay Paliwal, who identified himself as someone associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party, came to my office and offered me a ministerial berth and promised to introduce me to (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi,” Kumari told IANS. “I told him that you have knocked at the wrong door. He threatened me and my family with dire consequences if I revealed anything about this meeting,” she added. Kejriwal had also said at a Google hangout with the party volunteers, “We will win Delhi for sure but the question is whether the BJP wants elections to be held.” He had added that the party should not contest assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra. He said, “The Aam Aadmi Party should not fight Haryana and Maharashtra assembly elections. We should use all resources and volunteers in Delhi.” The BJP had denied all charges of horse-trading. Home Minister Rajnath Singh and senior BJP leader had told reporters last week, ““BJP has never done any horsetrading nor will it do in future.” BJP, with 28 MLAs (down from 31 seats after three of its MLAs were elected to the Parliament), is six MLAs short of a majority in the Delhi Assembly.
