Released after 12 days in captivity, IAS officer Alex Paul Menon today reached his official residence in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh today to be greeted by his family. Menon, who was released yesterday evening, remained at the CRPF paramilitary base in the Chintalnar area following his release and went home to meet with family members today morning. PTI”]  [/caption] While he did not address the media at his residence, Menon was seen meeting with family members and after a brief ceremony entered his house with wife Asha. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh said that the state government would honour whatever it promises it had made during negotiations with the Maoists and thanked the four mediators who had intervened in the matter. “As per the agreement we will follow whatever was said. We have put up the document on the government website and we will not do anything beyond or less than what is promised in that,” Singh told reorters today. The Chief Minister said the committee to look into the release of people who had been wrongly facing criminal persecution for colluding with the Maoists had been formed and had already begun work. “How many ever jailed persons are there in connection with Maoists who have been wrongly arrested will be examined and their release will be recommended by the committee. They will work till the process is completed,” Singh said. The state government would not be conducting any more negotiations with the Naxalites since talks were on only for the release of the abducted collector, he said, adding that they will welcome any more offers for talks from the Maoists.
The abducted IAS official reached his official residence in Sukma district today where he was greeted by family members. Chief Minister Raman Singh said the Maoists demands would be met and they would welcome further talks with Maoists.
