Ranchi: Local leader of BJP's minority cell gangraped by at least 20 men

A local BJP leader has been allegedly gangraped by a group of unidentified people at Masmano village in Ranchi district, police said. The men reportedly barged into her residence and gangraped her on Sunday. They also beat up her husband and abused their 13-year-old daughter before decamping with cash and jewellery, police said. According to a report the The Telegraph India the FIR with Chanho police station, says that some 20-22 men took turns in raping her. AFP[/caption] The report adds that “the first and only person to have been arrested so far in the case_”_ said that he was 62 years old and “too old” for “this sort of a crime”. It adds that, “the FIR also names two of his sons, to which the man claimed he could not have committed the crime with his own children.” Superintendent of Police (Rural) S K Jha said that the medical report of the woman was awaited. BJP spokesman Pradip Sinha said the police should arrest the culprits immediately and investigate whether the incident was connected to the elections. “She is a leader of our state unit’s minority cell. The police should track down the culprits with impartial investigation,” Sinha added. With inputs from PTI
