Ramzan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is very important for Muslims worldwide. The name Ramzan is derived from the word Ramadan, which comes from an Arabic word meaning “scorching heat.” During this sacred month, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, pray for peace and guidance, and give to charity.
Fasting in Ramzan is one of the five pillars of Islam, along with faith (Shahada), prayer (Salat), charity (Zakat), and pilgrimage (Hajj). It is a time for spiritual reflection and devotion.
Ramzan is also known as Ramadan or Ramazan.
The Islamic calendar is based on the lunar cycle, so months begin when the crescent moon is seen. Because of this, the start of Ramzan changes each year in the Gregorian calendar. In 2025, Ramzan is expected to begin on March 1, depending on the moon sighting on the evening of February 28.
