Rajnath Singh takes on China, says neighbours must reciprocate friendly gestures

Home Minister Rajnath Singh lashed out at China on Thursday over the recent incursions in Arunachal Pradesh, and said that the country had illegally occupied Aksai Chin. Singh also said that even though India wants to maintain good relations with its neighbours, the gesture needed to be reciprocated.

Reuters[/caption] Singh also criticised the Congress for its alleged ‘wrong policies’ towards China. “Congress lost Tibet to China which acted as the ‘Buffer State’ between both the countries & Pakistan handed over Aksai Chin area to China,” Singh tweeted. “India lost precious territory to China and Pakistan due to wrong policies of the Congress.”

“We in the BJP consider Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh as extremely close to our hearts,” said Rajnath Singh. “On the other hand parties like the Congress believed that Ladakh was nothing more than a cold desert,” he added.

After addressing an election meeting at Leh on Thursday, Rajnath said that Ladakh was an important part of the country and the people in Ladakh wanted change.

Rajnath Singh also talked about developing Ladakh as a ‘global tourist destination’.

The Home Minister also said that Article 370 was an important national issue which needed to be debated upon. He called Article 370 ‘an obstacle’ to the development of Jammu and Kashmir.
