Rajasthan rape case: Police send memory card for verification

Jaipur: The crime branch probing the charge of rape against Babulal Nagar on Wednesday sent a phone memory card allegedly containing recording of conversation between the victim and the former Rajasthan Minister to the state Forensic Science Laboratory for verification. PTI[/caption] “The memory card, deposited to Criminal Investigation Department-Crime Branch (CID-CB) by the 35-year-old woman on Monday was sent to the FSL for examination of voice and other details,” a police spokesman said. The CID-CB also decided to send a team of sleuths to the former minister’s residence to record the statements of Nagar’s family members, the spokesman said. Nagar, who was served notices thrice by the CID-CB to report to its office for medical examination and statements, had reportedly gone on a pilgrimage– as per his son’s information provided to the probe agency. The Rajasthan minister of state for Dairy resigned last week following an FIR against him by the woman, who alleged that she was raped by him at his official bungalow on September 11 on the pretext of giving her a job. 53-year-old Nagar, who was accused of raping the 35-year-old woman at his residence, had resigned on September 19 blaming his political rivals for “framing” him.
