Railways authorities said they were giving higher priority to goods trains and Delhi Airport authorities said their operations had not been affected by the power grid collapse.

Railways hit, Delhi airport unaffected by power grid crash

Indian Railway operations across six zones were affected due to the collapse of the northern and eastern power grids while Delhi airport officials said that operations had not been hit. AFP[/caption]A statement by the Indian Railways said that they had issued a traffic alert and were giving higher priority to passenger trains over freight trains. Among the zones hit by the by the power supply collapsing included the Northern, Eastern and North Central Railways. However, Delhi airport was unaffected by the loss of power. A statement from the Delhi International Airport Limited said that the entire power to the airport was restored within a minute and they were currently powering the entire airport using generators. The Northern and Eastern power grids collapsed today again after some of the states were suspected to have drawn more power than they were supposed to.
