After a bad time at the hustings, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi reportedly had a close shave while landing at the Delhi airport after his flight was forced to abort landing as the runway hadn’t been cleared yet.

, Gandhi was returning to Delhi on Tuesday after a visit to Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh when the incident took place. His private plane was given clearance to land but an Indian Air Force transport aircraft that was was to take off was still on the runway. AFP[/caption] As a result, moments before the Congress leader’s Cessna Citation jet was to land, the Air Traffic Control asked the pilot to abort the landing and climb instead. The Director General of Civil Aviation has ordered a probe into the incident and
a Times of India report quoted
unnamed sources as saying that the probe will examine why Gandhi’s aircraft was asked to land behind the Air force plane that is reportedly notorious for its slow movement. “This is being viewed very seriously. It is not about a VVIP being on a plane, such a scare should not happen with any plane. There has been a procedural lapse here,” an unnamed source was quoted as saying in the report.
