Punishment for bed-wetting: Caretaker burns private parts of five-year-old girl

A 25-year-old woman caretaker of a government recognised shelter home was today sent to jail after she was booked for allegedly getting private parts of a five-year-old girl singed for bed-wetting by another minor at the shelter. “A Dalit woman lodged a complaint on Monday that private parts of her minor daughter had been burnt with a candle at the shelter home - Ladli Ashray Grah- after which we investigated the matter”, Bajriya police station case investigating officer P N Tiwari told PTI. In a related development, a three-member team comprising Rekha Shridhar, a member of district child welfare committee, Anurag Joshi, District Women Empowerment Officer and Archana Sahay of NGO Childline visited the shelter home last evening. The team members found that two other inmates of the home had been meted out the same inhuman treatment by a 10-year-old inmate at the behest of the accused, Anurag Joshi told PTI. Tiwari said the accused was produced in a court and was sent in judicial custody for 15 days today, Tiwari said. PTI
