Promoters unsure of AMRI hospitals reopening any time soon

Kolkata: The promoters of AMRI Hospitals at  Dhakuria are unsure when it would be allowed to reopen after its closure following a fire in December 2011 that led to the death of over 90 patients. “We are trying. Let God decide, because it was an accident. So only God can help us when this (reopening) will happen,” Emami group joint chairman R S Agarwal said here today when asked about the reopening of the hospital. “We are applying and telling the government again and again,” said Agarwal while speaking on the sidelines of a seminar by the MCC Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Asked about the stumbling block, Agarwal said," I can’t tell you that." Meanwhile, West Bengal Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee  said he would talk to Infosys Vice-Chairman Kris Gopalakrishnan about proposed investment in the state. Infosys had proposed to open a campus in Kolkata for which it obtained 50 acres, but was being denied SEZ status by the state government. PTI
