Pomersbach initially admitted to molesting woman: police

Australian cricketer Luke Pomersbach, accused of molesting a woman and assaulting her fiance, had reportedly confessed to the crime when he was interrogated by the Delhi police. The cricketer had allegedly confessed to the crime while being interrogated by the police soon after he was detained by the police on 18 May, Delhi police officials said. However, since the statement was recorded under section 161 of the Code of Criminal Procedure it is inadmissible before a court of law and Pomersbach can deny it. Reuters”] [/caption] Pomersbach is currently out on bail but cannot leave the country since his passport is still with the court. The cricketer had been charged under sections of IPC including section 354 of IPC (outraging modesty of woman), 323 (hurt), 454 (house trespass) and 511 (Punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment). Meanwhile, Sahil Peerzada, the victim’s fiance, has allegedly told the police that he was Sidhartha Mallaya’s friend and was attending the party held after the Royal Challengers Bangalore match on being invited. Peerzada, a Mumbai-based businessman, had been admitted to a hospital after allegedly being physically assaulted by Pomersbach. On 20 May, the police questioned Peerzada’s friend Moiz. According to his statement, Moiz said he was in the room in Maurya Sheraton hotel when Pomersbach, the victim , Peerzada and another friend entered the room. Pomersbach allegedly tried getting close to the woman and Peerzada objected to it which led to a brawl between the two. After leaving the room, Pomersbach allegedly returned after some time with Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate  KP Appanna and the duo reportedly asked if Sidhartha Mallaya was inside the room.  However, the victim resisted their attempt to enter the room.
