An assistant sub-inspector of police was today kidnapped and later murdered by suspected Maoists in Odisha’s Nuapada district. We suspect that the kidnappers may be Maoists,” Director General of Police (DGP) Manmohan Praharaj told PTI this morning. Krupa Majhi, ASI of Dharmabandha police outpost, was escorting a water tanker to a CRPF camp at Goudha when his vehicle was stopped by around 10 persons and he was taken away. Another police official accompanying him was reportedly allowed to leave unharmed. Majhi was later found murdered in the nearby forests and had been shot, television channels reported.
