Police station in-charge will be sacked if cow smuggling is reported, warns Jharkhand CM

Ranchi: Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das on Saturday said that the officer-in-charge of a police station would be sacked if cows are smuggled in his or her police station area. “The officer-in-charge would be dismissed if there are smuggling of cows in areas under the police station,” an official release said, quoting Das. Das directed police officers to take action against anyone taking law in their own hands. While reviewing law and order situation in a meeting, the chief minister said it is the government’s responsibility to provide security to people. Killing of innocent people should be stopped at any cost, he said. Das asked DIGs to tour a district once in a week and make surprise inspection of a police station. Similarly, he said, SPs should inspect two police stations every day and take stock of diaries, investigation and other information. This would expedite works at the bottom level, he said. Das said action would be taken against the officer in charge of a police station if illegal mining takes place in the police station area. Chief Secretary Rajabala Verma said the officers in charge of police stations who do good work should be honoured.
