PM's maiden visit to Assam starts on Saturday

Modi will arrive in Guwahati on 29 November on the two-day visit and is expected to flag off the first train from Meghalaya and lay the foundation stone for Bharibi-Sairang new railway line at a function to be held at Northeast Frontier Railway stadium, official sources said.

PM's maiden visit to Assam starts on Saturday

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will this weekend pay his maiden visit to Assam as the country’s premier and address a conference of police chiefs of states in Guwahati. Modi will arrive in Guwahati on 29 November on the two-day visit and is expected to flag off the first train from Meghalaya and lay the foundation stone for Bharibi-Sairang new railway line at a function to be held at Northeast Frontier Railway stadium, official sources said.[caption id=“attachment_1823223” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Image courtesy PIB[/caption] The same evening, Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the year-long celebration of 75 years of north east’s leading English daily The Assam Tribune. The next day the prime minister will address the two-day conference of director generals of police of all states and Union Territories. He will also present President’s Police Medals to Intelligence Bureau officers. Modi’s last programme in the state will be an address to BJP workers at Indira Gandhi stadium, the sources said. BJP Assam unit president Siddhartha Bhattacharya said the BJP state unit will submit a memorandum to Modi on various issues related to the state. PTI
