Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met a number of veterans, including former chiefs of the three services, and sought their guidance amid the ongoing conflict with Pakistan.
According to The Tribune, citing sources, PM Modi held extensive discussions with the veterans including former chiefs of the army, air force and the navy, besides other retired officers who have served the country.
Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated as Indian armed forces mounted a proportionate and decisive response to Pakistani attempts to target Indian military installations during the night of May 8 and 9.
At a press briefing on Friday, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed that Pakistan had violated Indian airspace in a coordinated effort to strike military sites.
“Pakistan launched 300 to 400 drones across 36 locations, ranging from Leh to Sir Creek, with the intent to target our military installations,” she said.
The Indian military, she added, effectively neutralised the threat by intercepting and shooting down the incoming drones.
