PM Modi urges caution against negative aspects of Artificial Intelligence

Speaking on Tuesday at the fourth Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence Summit in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the need for “extreme caution” and discussed the difficulties presented by AI’s darker elements. The Indian Prime Minister spoke about the multi-stakeholder initiative, which supports innovative research and practical actions on AI-related issues in an effort to close the knowledge gap between theory and practice. PM Modi discussed the government of India’s policies, which are guided by the idea of “AI for All,” as well as the country’s aspirations to employ AI for social advancement. “Our development mantra in India is, Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. We have prepared government policies and programs inspired by the spirit of ‘AI For All’. Our endeavour is to take full advantage of the capabilities of AI for social development and inclusive growth. India is fully committed to responsible and ethical use of AI,” the prime minister added.

Additionally, PM Modi discussed India’s expanding involvement in the artificial intelligence field, noting that the country is currently a major player in terms of AI talent and innovative AI-related concepts. “In India, we are witnessing an AI innovation spirit. Today India is the most prominent player in AI talent and new ideas related to AI. India’s young tech experts and researchers are exploring the limits,” he added. The Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence Summit is a multi-stakeholder project that supports innovative research and applied initiatives on AI-related topics in an effort to close the knowledge gap between theory and practice. On June 15, 2020, India became a founder member of GPAI, a multi-stakeholder project. Delegations from 28 EU member states, including five ministerial delegations (from Canada, France, Japan, Turkey, and the UK), will be present at the GPAI Summit in 2023.
