Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the longest-serving head of an elected government in India on Sunday surpassing former Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling.
PM Modi completed 8,931 days in office being the head of the government, combining his days as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and then becoming the Prime Minister.
Assuming the office as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, he remained in his post until May 21, 2014, serving for more than ten years. He was later sworn in as the Prime Minister on May 26, 2014.
Earlier this year, it was also found that PM Modi crossed 100 million followers on Instagram becoming the first ever leader to cross the century milestone on the social media platform. He currently has over 101 million followers on Instagram and more than 106 million followers on X.
After swearing in the Prime Minister he has led the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) through three consecutive Lok Sabha mandates in 2014, 2019, and 2024.
PM Modi currently leads among both serving and former heads of government in terms of subscriber base, remaining well ahead of other prominent international political figures.
