Patangrao Kadam, senior Maharashtra Congress leader, passes away at 72 at Mumbai hospital

Patangrao Kadam, senior Congress leader and a former minister in Maharashtra, passed away at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital on Friday, media reports said. He was 72. Kadam was admitted to the hospital recently and had been seeking treatment for a few days before his admission, a report in The Indian Express said. He was suffering from renal dysfunction. He held portfolios such as cooperation and forest in the Congress-NCP government during 1999 to 2014. Earlier in the day, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi had visited Kadam at the hospital to inquire about his health. During her visit to the hospital, Gandhi was accompanied by Congress’ state unit president Ashok Chavan, senior leader Prithviraj Chavan and AICC general secretary Mohan Prakash. With inputs from PTI
