After demands from the Opposition, the Narendra Modi government has said that it is ready to hold a discussion on Operation Sindoor in the parliamentary monsoon session that has started today.

The Opposition has demanded a discussion over the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Operation Sindoor, and the diplomacy around it.

The Opposition has particularly flagged the intelligence failure at Pahalgam and criticised the government over US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims that he stopped the India-Pakistan conflict.

“I have given notice under Rule 267 on Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. Till today, the terrorists have not been caught or neutralised. All parties extended unconditional support to the government. The government should inform us about what has happened. The LG of J&K had made a statement that there was an intelligence failure…US President Trump has claimed 24 times that the ceasefire happened only due to his intervention,” said Congress leader Mallikarjuna Kharge, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

Meanwhile, both the houses were adjourned shortly after the proceedings began. In the Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla said that the government wants to answer all of the questions raised by the government but the house needs to be allowed to function for the government to give answers.

The Monsoon session of the parliament will run till August 21. In addition to the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, the Opposition is also expected to press the government on the Air India crash and its investigation and the many questions around it.
