Let him be hanged: Father of Parliament security breach accused

Devraj, father of Manoranjan who caused a security breach inside the Lok Sabha today, criticised his son for his actions.

“This is wrong, nobody should do anything like that,” he told reporters.

“If my son has done anything good, of course, I support him but If he has done something wrong I strongly condemn it. Let him be hanged if he has done something wrong for the society,” he added.

Shashi Tharoor makes big allegation over Parliament security breach

Raising concerns over the security breach in Parliament, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday claimed that intruders were apparently sponsored by a sitting MP of the ruling party.

He further demanded a detailed response from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

“The fact that these people (intruders) were apparently sponsored by a sitting MP of the ruling party. These people smuggled in smoke pistols, which shows there is a serious security lapse. Not only did they fired the pistols but also shouted some slogans inaudible to some of us. The new building does not seem to be configured very well when it comes to security in comparison with the arrangements in the old building,” Tharoor said.

Repealing and Amending Bill, 2023 tabled in Rajya Sabha

Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal moved the Repealing and Amending Bill, 2023 in the Rajya Sabha for consideration and passing. The Bill seeks to provide repeal of 76 enactments and to amend an enactment.

The Bill was earlier passed by the Lok Sabha.

Commandant of the 8th battalion, NDRF, PK Tiwary said a technical team is investigating the Parliament security breach.

“According to the information we have received- an unidentified man jumped from the visitor’s gallery of Lok Sabha. Our technical team is working on it. We will inform you about any information that we get. We will reveal only after investigation,” he told reporters.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that a thorough investigation is underway regarding the security lapse in the House.

“A thorough investigation of the incident that took place during zero hour, is being done. Essential instructions have also been given to Delhi Police. In the primary investigation, it has been found that that there is no need to worry about the smoke,” he said.

“Both of them have been nabbed and the materials with them have also been seized. The two people outside the Parliament have also been arrested by Police,” he added.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressed concern over the Parliament security during the all-party meeting.

In response to the security breach in Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Congress national secretary KC Venugopal stated in a social media post that the infiltration is concerning, especially on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament assaults.

“The infiltration in the Lok Sabha is extremely troubling, especially on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attacks. I am glad there was no major injury or damage done to anyone. Parliament is among the most high-security buildings of our country. Such a major security lapse is unacceptable,” Venugopal posted on X.

“We demand answers from the Home Ministry and there must be a thorough review of the security arrangements in the new Parliament building,” further read the post.

With the public utility’s operations expanding beyond mail delivery and its network becoming a vehicle of delivery for a range of citizen-centric services, it “necessitated the repeal of the Indian Post Office Act, 1898 and enactment of a new law.”
