Five of the six accused persons arrested in connection with the Parliament security breach on Friday gave their consent before a court in Delhi to conduct their polygraph test. Additional Sessions Judge Hardeeep Kaur, in addition to this, extended the police custody of all the accused individuals — Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Dhanraj Shinde, Neelam Azad, Lalit Jha, and Mahesh Kumawat — by eight days. The judge decided to extend the custody based on a request made by the Delhi Police after the accused were presented before the court upon the expiration of their custody period. With the exception of Azad, all the accused agreed to undergo the polygraph test as requested by the Delhi Police, who had earlier sought the court’s approval for conducting the tests on all the individuals involved. In a major security breach on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack on December 13, two persons - Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D - jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during the Zero Hour, released yellow gas from canisters and shouted slogans before being overpowered by the MPs. Around the same time, two other accused - Amol Shinde and Azad - also sprayed coloured gas from canisters while shouting “tanashahi nahi chalegi” outside the Parliament premises.
