The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday carried out searches at 15 locations across eight states in connection with a Pakistan-linked espionage case, The Times of India reported.
The raids were conducted at the residences of individuals suspected of working with Pakistani intelligence operatives in Delhi, Mumbai (Maharashtra), Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Assam, and West Bengal.
According to reports, during the operation, the NIA seized electronic devices, sensitive financial documents, and other incriminating materials. These items are now being examined for evidence related to a spy network allegedly run by agents based in Pakistan as part of an anti-India terror plot.
The case primarily revolves around the alleged sharing of classified information by a CRPF personnel with Pakistani intelligence officers (PIOs).
The jawan, Moti Ram Jat, was recently dismissed from service after it was found that he had been supplying sensitive information for ₹3,500 a month to a Pakistani agent who posed as a journalist.
According to the NIA, the suspects targeted in Saturday’s raids were linked to Pakistani agents and helped transfer money to support spying activities in India.
The case was registered on 20 May 2025 after the arrest of CRPF ASI Moti Ram, who had been passing on sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence officers since 2023. In return, he received money through several channels within India for leaking classified national security details.
