Pak Taliban puts down conditions for ceasefire

Islamabad: The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Wednesday put forward their demands for a ceasefire with the government, days after killing 23 security personnel who had been captured in 2010, a leading Pakistani daily reported. TTP spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid said the dumping of bodies of Taliban members be immediately stopped, according to The Dawn. The government’s negotiations team should ensure our committee that this would immediately stop,” Shahid was quoted as saying. The TTP spokesperson said that a ceasefire would be implemented if the government provides assurances to the Taliban that demands will be met. Peace talks to end years of violence faced a deadlock after the TTP Sunday killed the security personnel. The group claimed that it killed the security personnel as revenge for what it called “extra-judicial killing” of its detained activists. IANS
