The governing council of The Energy and Resources Institute(TERI) held a meeting on Monday to discuss the removal of RK Pachauri, the executive vice chairman of TERI who was accused of sexually harassing a former employee, not only from the council but from the organisation as well. It was finally concluded that the 75-year old be shown the door because of his negative reputation. However, media reports on this decision only came out on Thursday. But as soon as the exit of Pachauri became public, many bombarded the internet with tweets to show their appreciation as well as disappointment for decision, which they felt had faced delay.

One user even started a poll asking whether one should show tolerance towards delayed decisions.

With the reports stating that it was the governing council that decided to end its association with the executive vice chairperson, Pachauri, later on Thursday, came out with a statement “to provide the media with information” about his “stepping down” from TERI’s Governing Council. He claimed that the decision to end ties with the organisation was a voluntary one. “It is time for me to move away and get engaged in other interests which I have harboured over the past few years for activities at the global level,” he said in the statement. This further launched a spell of sarcasm across Twitter against the former head of the green body.

No matter who called it quits, the conclusion remains to be accepted as a wise one.
