New Delhi: Enforcement teams of Delhi government and Delhi Traffic Police booked as many as 635 motorists for violating the odd-even scheme on Thursday. Delhi Traffic Police challaned 217 violators while Transport department and district administration teams booked 418 people for driving odd-numbered vehicles. A penalty of Rs 2,000 under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act is levied on violators of the road-rationing scheme under which cars with odd and even-numbered license plates ply on alternate days. 15 April, the first day of odd-even second phase had seen a total of 1,311 challans. The figures came down subsequently as penal action slowed down movement of vehicles leading to congestion.
