It may have come almost a year too late, but Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi finally has a Twitter account, or at least his office does. [caption id=“attachment_2220700” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Rahul Gandhi. PTI[/caption] The account, now verified under the Twitter handle @OfficeOfRG, was created on Wednesday, but the first tweets only appeared on Thursday. The account bio claims it to be ’the official account of the Office of Rahul Gandhi’, and the three tweets so far are in third person. It is unclear if Gandhi will himself run the account and it seems to be run by someone from his team. One of the tweet promises ‘information and updates on Rahul Gandhi’s official programs and upcoming events’. The account has gained forty-four thousands followers since its inception on Wednesday.

Gandhi had stayed away from the social media in the past and recently Digvijaya Singh had urged him to join Twitter and Facebook. His absence from social media was also seen as one of the factors that went against him in the general elections at a time Narendra Modi was using various social media.
