In another case of the mid-day meal scheme gone wrong, over 200 students of a suburban Mumbai school took ill after consuming lunch and had to be admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment. According to an Indian Express report, the students of the Anjuman Nurul Islam school in Andheri were served cake this morning after many of them complained of uneasiness and some began vomiting. We will now check with Parivartan Mahila Mandal which supplies midday meal to our school and then decide the next course of action,” NM Mallik, headmaster of the school, was quoted as saying. The children have been admitted to a nearby hospital and are currently undergoing treatment. Hospital authorities were quoted as saying that the condition of the children is stable and they are recovering.
