Chandigarh: Over 1.80 lakh cases were settled by Lok Adalats held in Haryana from1 September to 23 November. In all, a total of 2.72 lakh cases were taken up by these Lok Adalats, Punjab and Haryana High Court Judge and working Chairperson of Haryana State Legal Services Authority, S K Mittal, said today. [caption id=“attachment_1247119” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  Reuters[/caption] An official release quoting him said a sum of Rs 18.13 crore was disbursed as compensation in accident cases, and 923 matters of Motor Vehicle Act were taken up. Other cases settled included 1,378 cases of Hindu Marriage Act, 13,079 civil cases, 11,530 criminal cases, 3,492 petty criminal cases, 471 cases related to labour, 5,889 related to bank loans and over 24,000 other cases were taken up by the Lok Adalats. He said during Lok Adalats, a maximum number of 18,614 cases were settled in Gurgaon district, followed by 17,680 cases in Faridabad and 16,793 in Hisar. PTI
