Operation Sindoor: NSA Doval meets PM Modi amid faceoff with Pakistan

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday as the situation along the India-Pakistan border escalated after Islamabad launched air attacks on Jammu, Rajasthan and Punjab. The artillery fire, drone and missile attacks were thwarted by the Indian defence system.

Pakistan launched a series of artillery strikes, drone incursions, and missile attacks targeting multiple locations in Jammu, including a strategic airstrip, just a day after India carried out strikes on terror hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Security agencies reported that Pakistan fired eight missiles, all of which were successfully intercepted by the S-400 air defence system.

Several regions in states like Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Gujarat and Rajasthan have been blacked out in the wave of the aerial attacks.

Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, many states have announced the closure of schools, blackouts in border districts, and the cancellation of leave for police personnel and administration officials. The stringent measures were taken by Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat, West Bengal and Bihar.

Moreover, flight operations at Bikaner, Kishangarh in Ajmer, and Jodhpur airports have been suspended till May 10 as a precautionary measure. Directions have been issued to tighten security arrangements across the state.
