Even as the police try to connect the dots in the Sheena Bora murder case with last night’s face to face questioning of Peter Mukerjea and Indrani, the media has made sure they analyse every bit of information — relevant or not — in the case. After chasing Sheena’s alleged biological father on bikes, jumping to conclusions, coming up with theories, we have now been presented with her diary entries. [caption id=“attachment_2419320” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Sheena Bora in a file photo. PTI[/caption] DNA has published chunks from Sheena’s diary with the headline quoting her ‘I hate my mother, that bloody b***h’ Given it was written by a teenaged Sheena studying in Class X – way back in 2003, it hardly gives us any clue about the murder case itself. In the mix of several talking heads on TV, friends, grandmothers, neighbours being hounded by the media (and each of them giving out vague information about the Mukerjea-Bora family), reports on Sheena’s diary is another example of how invasive the media has been with regards to this story. As pointed out by Firstpost Senior Editor Sandip Roy in an earlier article , “Investigation is one thing. Digging up dirt is another. The breathless media frenzy heating up around the Indrani Mukerjea case gives all indication that in the name of unraveling a mystery what we will see is a gold rush to dig up every salacious detail of the family story – a new shocker every few hours.” And this report on Sheena Bora’s diary is exactly that — another shocker for the already “shocking” murder story that has flashed across television channels for the past one week.
