The Times of India. The lowest temperature in the past 10 years was 11.4 degrees Celsius on 27 December, 2011. The report added that the 11.4 degrees Celsius temperature recorded on Wednesday was lower than that recorded in Mahabaleshwar, a hill station, on the same day. Another report in
DNA said that officials explained that the main reasons for the drop in temperature were the northerly winds and clear sky. “Both these factors are known to result in temperatures dropping. It will be interesting to also see if the temperature drops further. In December 1949, temperatures had hit an all-time low of 10.6 degrees Celsius,” the report quoted a senior IMD official as saying.
On Wednesday, as the temperature dropped to 11.6 degrees Celsius, now even the citizens of Mumbai can say, “Winter is coming.”
