Nothing wrong in police entering Kerala House, incident has nothing to do with beef: BJP

Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP on Tuesday said there was nothing wrong in police entering the Kerala House in Delhi on a complaint that it was serving beef as the state government guest house does not have any diplomatic immunity. AFP[/caption] It termed the protest over police entering Kerala House as an attempt to tarnish the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party led NDA government at the Centre. The party also wanted Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to apologise for “distorting facts” of the incident to join hands with other political leaders to target the NDA government and the Prime Minister. “The incident has nothing to do with beef. Police have gone to the Kerala House after they received a call regarding an altercation between a group of people and Kerala House staff,” BJP State President V Muraleedharan told PTI in Thiruvananthapuram. Contrary to the allegation, police have not entered the canteen or kitchen premises of the state-run guest house. They only went and enquired about the incident by standing at the counter of the annex of the main building, he claimed. He, however, said there was nothing wrong even if police went there for an inspection. Kerala House did not have any diplomatic immunity. “Law in Delhi applies to Kerala House also,” he pointed out. Serving of cow meat is not allowed in Delhi as cow slaughter is banned there, he said. PTI
