North East polls created atmosphere of festivity in country, says Narendra Modi at youth convention in Karnataka

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed a youth convention in Karnataka's Tumakuru via video conferencing on the theme – Youth Power: A vision for New India. Referring to the result of the Assembly elections in the three North East states – Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura – he said that they have created an atmosphere of festivity in the country.

He also said that he does not view it as a victory or defeat of any political party but, what is significant is that the entire nation joined in the celebrations of the North East people.

"It happened for the first time that people in other states of the country opened their television sets early in the morning to know the mandate of the North East public. This is a huge change," he added.

Addressing the convention, Modi also stressed the importance of youth power in the convention and said that he learns something new every time he converses with the young people.

"Over 65 percent people are less than 35 years of age. This immense energy of youth power can change the fate of the country," the prime minister added. Modi said that after coming to power in 2014, the Centre took many decisions to empower youth.

Modi mentioned the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana and said that it enables young people to start a business on their own and get a loan without a guarantee. He added that apart from promoting skill development and self-employment, the Centre has also worked to create a market for the products of young people.
