The university has said that it has set up an enquiry committee and has moved 100 Kashmiri students to a new hostel to ensure their safety. Earlier in March, a university in Meerut had decided to suspend over 60 Kashmiri students for celebrating Pakistan’s victory in a cricket match against India. The incident had seen a fight between 8-10 Kashmiri students and local students in the hostel premises of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU). The University had then gone to suspend over 67 students and charges of sedition were also filed against them. The charges were later dropped.
