In the latest death connected with the Vyapam scam, the Special Task Force investigating it has reportedly told a Madhya Pradesh court on Wednesday that a constable who was to appear as a witness in the case died almost two months ago. However, when he failed to appear in court police officials discovered that he had died. According to state government sources, Yadav died due to hepatitis and there was nothing mysterious about the way he died, reports NDTV.
Justice Chandresh Bhushan had earlier admitted that deaths in the Vyapam scam do not look “mysterious” but come forth as “abnormal”. According to
IBNLive, it was believed that the constable was close to MP Governor Ram Naresh Yadav’s former OSD Dhanraj Yadav, who incidentally is in jail. Since it broke in 2013, more than 40 people associated with the scam have died. The deaths include accused and witnesses as well as a journalist who was investigating the story, and have largely been under mysterious circumstances. The Supreme Court is set to hear the plea for a CBI probe into the Vyapam scam on Thursday.
