In an incident highlighting the decreasing respect for the law among some sections of citizens, two traffic constables were beaten up in Delhi by a group of people for stopping an underage person from driving a car. Courtesy-youtube.com[/caption] When the constables asked the boy for a driving licence, he failed to produce one, and was handed a fine. This led to a scuffle between the policemen and the boy, after which the boy left. He later returned with some of his relatives, after which the group thrashed up the two policemen. The video of the incident was said to have been taken by a spectator. According to Zee Media, the two policemen have been identified as head constable Jai Bhagwan and constable Manoj. They were said to have been attacked in Delhi’s Gokulpuri area. The footage from India Today’s news report shows a group of men getting into an argument with the constables and then attacking them. One of the constables is seen falling to the ground and his mobile phone falling on the road. Throughout the video, the group is also seen to be hurling verbal abuses at the cop, which have been censored out. After a complaint was registered in the matter, the underage boy was apprehended and two other persons were also detained. The two policemen were admitted to a nearby hospital and are presently receiving medical aid.
