In what seems to be a flood of videos highlighting mismanagement in Uttar Pradesh’s government hospitals, another one has surfaced of a doctor’s driver administering saline drips to patients in a district hospital. The undated video shows Rajendra, the driver of Kushinagar’s Chief Medical Officer, adjusting patients saline drips in general and emergency wards. Rajendra was nonchalant about his actions and admitted to treating the patients despite not being qualified to do so. “I work for the CMO as his driver. The ward boy and sweeper were not around so I administered the saline solution,” he said. Patients also said that the doctor present in the hospital had told them that the driver would treat them. However, the Chief Medical Officer of the hospital has professed ignorance about the incident and promised a probe into the matter.
