The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday released an official statement providing an update on the NEET-UG paper leak case. The probe agency took over the case on June 23 after alleged irregularities surfaced regarding the conduction of the exam in May.
Here’s what the investigation reveals so far:
The question papers of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test were stolen from the Oaisis School in Jharkhand’s Hazariabagh on May 5
The papers were allegedly swiped by Pankaj Kumar who has now been named as one of the masterminds behind the leak case. Kumar’s accomplice was Oasis School’s principal and vice principal, all of whom have been arrested by CBI
The partially burnt question papers allowed the CBI to trace the source of the NEET UG 2024 question paper leak to the designated examination center. On the morning of May 5, the trunks containing the NEET UG 2024 question papers were delivered to the school and stored in the control room
Following this, the principal and vice principal of the school gave illicit access to the mastermind to seize the question papers
After gaining unauthorized access to the NEET question paper, it was solved in Hazaribagh by a group of individuals on the morning of May 5, 2024. The completed paper was then distributed to selected students who had paid money to the accused. The solvers, all of whom are MBBS students from esteemed colleges, have been identified, and most of them have been arrested
