The NEET-NET controversy, which has shaken the entire country with many questioning India’s education system, does not seem to simmer down as students continued to protest for a second week straight. Amid this, the Ministry of Education, which took responsibility for the irregularities in the NEET and NET exams, has created a high-level committee to ensure such a debacle does not get repeated in the future.

On Thursday, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a press conference where he said, “I want to assure everyone that the government is committed to protecting the interests of students. We will not compromise on transparency. Student’s welfare is our priority.”

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has also swung into action. Last week, the apex court issued a notice to the National Test Agency (NTA) seeking answers and slamming the agency over the allegations.

Four people have been arrested in Bihar for leaking the question papers and Anurag Yadav is one of them. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s ally has also been accused of circulating the papers a day before the NEET-UG exams.

What will the committee do?

The high-level committee has been tasked to reccommend ways to make the testing system smooth, transparent and fair.

It will be expected to create reccommendations on reforming the mechanism of the examination process, improving data security protocols and restructuring the National Test Agency.
