After the Dimapur incident where a mob killed an alleged rapist by dragging him out of a jail, a group of people in Agra took matters into their own hands when they thrashed a molestor to death. According to a
report in CNN-IBN, the man was accused of being drunk and misbehaving with girls and was later identified as Jeetu. The report adds that the crowd “dragged him out of his house,” and then beat him. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The report quotes an eyewitness as saying, “He was beaten mercilessly. He was dragged and hit with sticks. Nobody helped him, no one stopped the mob.” The police said that the man was “misbehaving with women in the locality,” and they are probing the case. The latest incident comes just a week after a rape accused was lynched by a mob in Dimapur district of Nagaland. None of this turned out to be true. In Agra, the crowd too went with the easy task of beating the accused to death, instead of coming together and handing him over to the police.
