Myanmar diplomat Pyi Soe killed in road accident in Jharkhand; wife, two others injured

Myanmar Consul General Pyi Soe was killed in a road accident on Friday in Jharkhand, according to several media reports.

According to ANI, Soe’s car rammed into a truck in Nimiaghat in Jharkhand’s Giridih district leaving him dead and injuring three others including his wife. PTI[/caption] The vehicle rammed into the lorry as the driver was trying to save a biker on the road, reported The Tribune. According to police, Soe was travelling in an Innova car with his family members when it crashed with a truck at Galagi village, under Nimiyahat police station in Giridih. He was travelling to Kolkata from Bihar’s Gaya district. Soe sustained multiple injuries, including on his face and was admitted to a local hospital but died later. However, according to PTI Superintendent of Police (SP) Akhilesh Beriar said Soe was returning to Kolkata from Gaya in Bihar when the accident took place on GT Road, near Galagi, within the Nimiaghat police station limits, about 61 km from Giridih town and he died on the spot. Details of the accident were not known immediately. While, the three injured persons Soe’s wife Nayo, personal adviser Tingung and driver Vipin Sing were first taken to a hospital in Dumri and subsequently, referred to a hospital in Ranchi Civil Surgeon Kameshwar Prasad said all three injured persons were out of danger. His wife and the other two injured persons are being treated in a hospital in Giridih. Giridih’s district superintendent of police and other officials rushed to the hospital on learning of the accident but were informed about the death of the Myanmarese diplomat. Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das has expressed his condolences on Twitter. He tweeted: " I am saddened to hear the news of Myanmar counselor General Pyi Soe’s death in a road accident. We have instructed to provide his wife and fellow travellers better medical treatment."
