Father of murdered IPS officer Narendra Kumar sought a CBI investigation into his son’s murder and said he had warned his son not to take on the mining mafia. “He would tell me that he had caught so many vehicles and had given them challans and I would tell him that he didn’t need to do that work,” Keshav Dev, a police official himself, told Times Now [caption id=“attachment_238708” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“The slain IPS official’s father said he had warned his son not to take on the illegal mining mafia in the region. He said that the slain IPS officer’s family would not be able to do anything further in this case. “We want a CBI probe in the matter and those who are guilty should be punished,” Dev said. He also alleged that his son had not received any support from his superior officers when he took on the illegal mining mafia in the region. Narendra Kumar Singh, was crushed to death under the wheels of a tractor-trolley allegedly owned by the mining mafia on Thursday in the Banmore town of Madhya Pradesh. Kumar, a 2009-batch IPS officer , had been posted at Banmore since February and during his brief tenure he had taken on the mining mafia head-on by seizing a number of trucks and tractors engaged in illegal mining in the area. The last rites of Kumar were performed on Friday. Keshav Dev said he was not informed by authorities about his son’s death and had found out about the murder through the media. “They just told me come here soon and did not tell me anything about the incident. But I found out from the television channels what had happened to him,” he said.
