Mumbai Police gives birthday surprise to complainant in bid to revamp image

Mumbai Police has deployed an offbeat strategy to revamp its tough image and social media presence — they ordered a cake when they realised it was the complainant's birthday.

On Saturday, Mumbai Police tweeted a photo showing officers at the Sakinaka Police Station celebrating a complainant's birthday with a cake.

When Anish, a resident of the locality, went to  Sakinaka police station to file an FIR, he did not expect a surprise. After he filed his complaint, the officers saw his birth date in the FIR and decided to order a cake to celebrate the occasion.

Since being posted, the little gesture has garnered collective applause from the Twitteratti.  The post has over 1,000 'likes' and has been retweeted more than 250 times.Here are some of the reactions of twitter users.
