Mumbai: The 22-year old gangrape survivor was discharged from Jaslok Hospital late on Tuesday night, after her condition improved considerably.
In a statement issued today, the hospital said: “The patient had improved steadily and our team of doctors especially assigned for this patient had declared the patient medically fit for discharge late yesterday (Tuesday) night.. The patient has been explained all future steps so she remains fit and healthy.”
The hospital also said that they had considered waiving the medical fee of the patient, but the government has decided to bear the costs.
The survivor had reportedly told her parents that she wanted to get back to work as early as possible as ‘rape was not the end of her life.’
“They have ruined my life and caused immense humiliation and physical pain… Rape is not the end of life. I want strictest punishment for all the accused and want to join duty as early as possible,” a relative of the survivor, quoting the photojournalist, told National Commission for Women (NCW) member Nirmala Samant Prabhavalkar.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police on Wednesday took all the five accused to Shakti Mills inorder to recreate the scene of crime. On Tuesday, forensic experts from New Delhi and Gujarat visited the crime scene to pick up vital evidence.
