Mumbai: The 23-year-old acid attack victim, who is battling for life in a Mumbai hospital, reportedly received nearly 300 messages in July 2011 from a number not known to her. Out of the 300 messages, 210 messages were of romantic nature, police said. Police probing the case said that this bit of information confirms their hunch that the attack could have been the handiwork of a spurned lover. Meanwhile, the patient continues to be critical. TOI reports:
Clinical administrator at Masina Hospital Dr Shakeel S Ansari said, “The victim has been responding to the rice tube feed and is also breathing on her own. We may wean her off the ventilator soon. Her right eye, remains a concern and the burns on her hand are hurting her.”
On the other hand, the victim’s family said that the Navy hospital has not responded to their queries about extending the girl’s joining date. The girl, a nursing graduate, had come to Mumbai from Delhi to work for the hospital.
