A day after Indiabulls co-founder Rajiv Rattan was reported buying a house in Lutyen’s Delhi, further reports now suggest he is not the only one house hunting in the area. Many new MPs in the Narendra Modi government are looking for property in one of the poshest areas in Delhi. Brokers in Delhi are saying that representatives of MPs are approaching them since they aren’t willing to stay in accommodation provided to the first time parliamentarians. AFP[/caption] “They (the representatives of a politician from south India) only said he had a budget of Rs 250-300 crore for a bungalow. The deal has to be done fast,” Economic Times quoted the broker, who showed the men homes on Prithviraj Road, Amrita Shergill Marg and Tughlaq Road, as saying. The Lutyens Bungalow Zone is spread over a 2,800-hectare area and stretches up to Lodhi Road in the south. Economic Times reports MPs who don’t want to spend as much are settling for other prestigious neighbourhoods such as Shanti Niketan, Golf Links and West End, where homes cost about half the price of Lutyens zone bungalows. Others are also open to rentals. Meanwhile, the house that Rattan was looking at was allegedly a whopping Rs 220 crore.
