PM Modi says only 3 nations opposed Operation Sindoor, supported Pak. Which are they?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that only three of the United Nations’ 193 member countries supported Pakistan, while the rest supported India during Operation Sindoor, the retaliatory strikes on Pakistan following the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22.

In the Lok Sabha, PM Modi said, “193 member countries of the United Nations… only three out of them gave statements in Pakistan’s support during Operation Sindoor. Quad, Brics, France, Russia, Germany… be it any country… all the countries across the globe supported India.”

The remarks were made in response to Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi’s allegation in the House earlier today that not a single country criticised Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror incident, accusing the government of diplomatic failure.

PM Modi said that no country in the world has prevented India from taking action in its fight against terrorism, but noted that while the nation received support from the entire world, the Congress was unable to stand behind the bravery of India’s soldiers.

“India got support from the entire world, but it is unfortunate that the Congress did not support the valour of our soldiers. Congress leaders targeted me for political gains but their frivolous statements ended up discouraging our brave soldiers,” he stated.

Though PM Modi did not explicitly name the three countries that backed Pakistan, his remarks were aimed at China, Turkey, and Azerbaijan, which have frequently supported Islamabad on the international stage, including at the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

When the Indian military conducted out targeted attacks in Pakistan and the PoK between May 7 and 10, the three nations made declarations in support of Pakistan. While it was eventually revealed that China and Turkey had backed Pakistan throughout the battle, Beijing later minimised its role.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had contacted Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar to express sympathy with Islamabad and denounce what Turkey described as India’s “unprovoked aggression.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan backed Pakistan’s call for an international probe and reaffirmed his support for its Kashmir stance several times.

While China avoided outright criticism of Operation Sindoor, its reaction was subdued. The Foreign Ministry denied providing military help to Pakistan, calling its security cooperation with Islamabad “normal” and claiming it did not target any third party during the conflict.

In response to the two-day discussion in the Lok Sabha on the Pahalgam incident and Operation Sindoor, the prime minister stated that Pakistani airbases targeted by India “are still in ICU” and that the masterminds of the April 22 terror act are still experiencing sleepless nights.

“No country in the world has stopped India from any action in its defence against terrorism. Only three countries spoke in favour of Pakistan at the UN.

The prime minister stated that India called Pakistan’s nuclear bluff and demonstrated to the world that “we will not bow down to nuclear blackmail”.

“Our operations range from Sindoor to Sindhu (Indus Waters Treaty)… Pakistan knows they have to pay a huge price for any misadventure. Terror attacks were launched earlier and the masterminds of attacks knew nothing would happen, but now they know India will come for them.”

During the military operation, PM Modi claimed that Indian-made drones and missiles exposed Pakistani arms and ammunition capabilities.

He added, “The world saw the strength of self-reliant India during Operation Sindoor. We destroyed terror sites deep inside Pakistan within 22 minutes to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam attack.”

Modi stated that Pakistan was aware of Indian activity and has begun issuing nuclear threats, but could do little when terror targets were attacked.

“It (Pahalgam attack) was a conspiracy to instigate riots in India and the country’s unity foiled that attempt. When I speak of this Parliament session being a Vijayotsav (celebration of victory), it is of destroying the headquarters of terror,” he said.

“I stand here to make a case for India, and to show a mirror to those who do not understand this. I had said that we will teach the terrorists and their masters a befitting lesson which will be beyond their imagination.

“We have complete trust in the capabilities of our armed forces and they were given a free hand to respond. The armed forces taught them such a lesson that the masters of terrorism are still losing their sleep over it,” he added.
