The explosion was reported in a suburb of the city and reportedly took place after a child picked up an abandoned packet lying on the side of the road.

An explosion has been reported from the Laxmi Tara complex in the Dange chowk area of Pune today which has reportedly injured a child. CNN IBN reported that the explosion had occurred in what was primarily a residential complex, after a child picked up a packet that was lying on the side of the road. We are still getting details,“SK Singhal, Joint Commissioner of Police in Pune, said. “Citizens should not believe in rumours and if they need any clarifications they can contact the police,” he said, adding that the police were on alert. Bomb disposal squads have been rushed to the spot. But police were quick to say that there was no evidence to suggest it was a terror strike or an explosive blast and said they were investigating the matter. The explosion comes days after a series of minor blasts took place on the busy Junglee Maharaj road in Pune injuring one person, for which investigations are still on in the matter.
