Militants attack BSF convoy on Jammu-Srinagar highway: Two jawans, 1 terrorist killed

Jammu: Militants on Wednesday attacked a BSF (Border Security Force) convoy on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur district. Image courtesy- AFP.[/caption] “Militants fired at a BSF convoy at Narsu Nallah on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Wednesday,” a senior police officer told IANS here, adding “Three BSF troopers were injured in this attack. They are being shifted to hospital for treatment.” The officer also said senior BSF troopers and police officers have rushed to the spot, which is 65 kilometres away from here in Udhampur district. The officer said the Jammu-Srinagar national highway is cleared for traffic each day by road-opening parties who employ high-tech equipment and sniffer dogs to ensure there are no explosive devices planted anywhere by militants. “In the wake of today’s attack we have deployed additional forces in places overlooking the highway,” the officer added.
